Obstetric Medical-Legal Conference - Integrated Team Approach to Improving Patient Safety, Avoiding Litigation and Enhancing the Joy of Obstetrical Practice

September 27-28, 2018 Fairmont Copley Hotel, Boston, MA

The overall goal of this conference is to share practical system improvements to keep the obstetrical team away from the courtroom - on the labor and delivery floor - and to enhance the joy of obstetrical practice.

73.6% of OB/GYNs have one professional liability claim filed against them in their careers, with an average of 2.59 claims per OB/GYN. Of these, 41% had at least one professional claim while still in residency training. 3.9% of obstetricians stopped performing deliveries because of insurance affordability or availability. MSHRM Risk Management Collaborative Meetings

MSHRM “Risk Management Collaborative Meeting”

The very successful "Risk Management Collaborative" has been in existence in MA for nearly 30 years.  New for 2018, participation in this meeting will now be available only to MSHRM members!

What is the MSHRM Risk Management Collaborative?

The “Risk Management Collaborative” is a meeting the first Friday of every month from 9AM-11AM EST, now with web meeting capability to enhance the attendee participation experience. It brings together risk management professionals from different backgrounds and settings to discuss important industry developments at the state and national level, regulatory and accreditation standards and experiences and collaborate on “how you handle it” questions from participants. It’s an informal, but valuable opportunity to network and learn from each other. You don’t have to be an experienced Risk Manager to participate, in fact, we hope the meeting will serve as a mentoring opportunity as well.

Login information will be sent to all current MSHRM members 1 week prior to the meeting, but be sure to add this first Friday of the month meeting to your calendar.

We hope members you will join us and lend your expertise as well as come away with something that you maybe didn’t know! We welcome your feedback on the meeting as it evolves. Please send any agenda items, questions or issues for discussion to Denise Peterson at

Our thanks go to Denise Peterson, Barbara McCarthy, Rosemary Kinser, Barbara Lightizer and Patty Hughes who have offered to serve as the Planning Committee.

If you aren't already a MSHRM member you can join here for just $55.00 per year! Join
